Blood donors at Sacred Heart Cathedral’s blood donation drive

KARAMUNSING – Sacred Heart Cathedral parishioners were encouraged to donate blood to save life even though the partial lockdown is still in force.
More than 150 parishioners responded to the Red Cross blood donation drive to replenish depleted blood supply and maintain the stockpile of the vital fluids needed for hospitals.
The donation drive, which was organized jointly by Malaysian Red Crescent Society and Queen Elizabeth Hospital over the two consecutive weekends of Jun 13 and Jun 21 to implement effective social distancing, collected 110 pints.
SOP was strictly adhered to during the operation. Donors were required to have their temperature scanned and cautioned to use face masks at all times.
Pope Francis welcomed initiatives such as blood and organ donation campaigns. He said “Giving blood is a testimony of love for our neighbour and a powerful expression of human solidarity and Christian charity. Such actions can help build a culture of life, a culture in which life is cherished.”
